Mail Those Ticks to Us!

Remove the tick from its human host and kill it by placing it either in a freezer for 24-48 hours or in 70 percent rubbing alcohol. Place the dead tick(s) and a very slightly moistened piece of paper towel in a small container, such as a pharmacy prescription vial, or in a resealable plastic bag.

Please include the following information:

  • the date the tick was discovered;
  • the location, including nearest town/ city;
  • the sex and age of individual on whom the tick was discovered;
  • where the tick was attached; and
  • the name, address and telephone number of person submitting the specimen.

Mail the tick(s) in a non-crushable package to
